Ambulance New Brunswick Opens New Station in Stanley
STANLEY, NB – Ambulance New Brunswick’s new Stanley station is now officially open. Ambulance New Brunswick’s Deputy Director of Operations, Yvon Bourque was joined by North York MLA, Kirk MacDonald (representing the Honourable Madeleine Dubé, Minister of Health) and Ms. Barb MacDonald, Deputy Mayor of Stanley at the official opening ceremony.
“With this new station, Ambulance New Brunswick continues to show its commitment to providing our paramedics, flight nurses and emergency medical dispatchers the best tools and facilities possible so they can provide a world-class ambulance service to New Brunswickers.” said Mr. Bourque.
“In the past year, we have opened 7 new stations (including Stanley) - Rogersville, Florenceville-Bristol, Cap-Pelé, Boiestown, Belledune, Tracadie-Sheila and our new Fredericton Fleet Centre, Regional Office and Paramedic Quarters” added Mr. Bourque. “In the new year, we are looking forward to holding grand openings of our new Kingston and Petitcodiac stations.”
“The New Brunswick government is committed to providing quality health care in all regions of our province and working with all of our partners, including Ambulance New Brunswick,” said Health Minister Madeleine Dubé. “Paramedics are often the first point of contact for someone requiring emergency care and I am confident that the residents of the Stanley area will be well served from such an excellent facility.”
The new station in Stanley is an ICF (insulated concrete forms) construction and is resistant to hurricane-force winds and seismic loads. The building has in-floor heating throughout. Furthermore, the exhaust system in the one bay garage is ultra modern as it removes both vehicle exhaust fumes and garage humidity automatically. The garage also has an NO2 detector system which will make an audible alarm warning if exhaust fumes get too high.
“We are happy to see the completion of this wonderful building in our municipality and appreciate Ambulance New Brunswick’s commitment to the area.” said Ms. MacDonald.
Ambulance New Brunswick was created by the Government of New Brunswick in December 2007 to deliver a world-class land, air and emergency dispatch ambulance service throughout the province. Today, Ambulance New Brunswick has more than 900 paramedics stationed across the province. Every year, they respond to approximately 100,000 calls. The air ambulance service performs more than 700 emergency calls every year and flies nearly 600,000 kilometres transporting sick and injured patients to specialized hospital care across the Maritimes and as far as Toronto, London and Montreal.
